Radio Frequency Identification

What are the benefits of (Radio Frequency Identification / RF Technology) card locks?

Well the most important is ease of use. The guest does not need to insert the card into a slot, but simply hold up the card against the “Card Badge” section of the lock. The cards can also be used in any other RF applications in the hotel. Another great benefit of RF Card locks is that there is no slot in the lock, which means that dust cannot enter your lock, therefore extending the life expectancy of your lock.

The one access card – one card for different applications.

The MIFARE Classic (Standard) that consists of 3 types namely: MIFARE Classic 1K, 4K and Mini, is widely used in today’s Businesses. A MIFARE Classic 1K card contains 16 sectors with 1024 Bytes of data storage capability. A sector is protected by two keys: A and B, and they can be programmed for operations such as reading, writing, increasing value blocks, etc. With these cards not all available space can be used for data storage, some of it is used for storing card information and is read only. Each sector can be used for storing different information with different transactions, this depends on the card encryption. With all these advantages, MIFARE is applied widely in the hospitality industry.

RF Technology - Mifare

The Xeeder Hotel Lock System also adopts the MIFARE Classic 1K card as the lock keycard to record locking information. Because this card offers 16 sectors and the Xeeder hotel lock only requires one sector of the card, you can use the remaining free sectors and allocate them to other access control applications. This is useful if you already have an access control system that uses MIFARE Cards.

As the graph indicates, there are guest rooms, parking, a tennis club, a shop, and a library in your building, and by storing data in different sectors you can use only 1 card to access them all.

E.g. If sectors 0-6 is in use for certain functions, you can define sectors 7-15 for the application you require. By doing this you will achieve the one card for many applications and this will result in cost savings.
