(Q) What kind of warranty do you offer for your products?
(A) XEEDER Locks South Africa ('Xeeder') warrants that our products are free from defects in material and workmanship. Subject to the conditions and limitations set forth below, Xeeder will at its digression, either repair or replace any part of its products that prove to be defective by reason of improper workmanship or materials.
This warranty does not cover any damage to the product that results from accidents, abuse, misuse, natural disasters, vandalism or any unauthorized disassembly, repair or modification. This limited warranty also does not apply to any product on which the original identification information has been altered, obliterated or removed, has not been handled or package correctly, or has been sold as second-hand.
(Q) Our Hotel is near the sea, how can we prevent moisture entering the locks?
(A) We’ve met several clients that have the same question .For this scenario, the IC hotel lock is not recommended because it is more at risk of being destroyed by unexpected water or dust. We suggest that the IC hotel lock is installed in a clean and in-room environment only. We recommend that you install the L5218-M1 model plus a rubber shield that will prevent water from entering the lock although it is not completely waterproof.
(Q) What kind of door is needed for the installation of the hotel locks?
(A) We suggest Solid Wooden doors but our product can also be installed on hollow doors, please inform us prior to order about the type of door you have.
Another important consideration is the thickness of the door. We require the door to be at least 4.0cm thick and the default max is 5.0cm. If your doors are thicker than the default max, please inform us so that we can supply customized screws for you.
(Q) How can I tell the difference between a left or right-handed lock?
(A) There is a difference in the orientation of the handle for a left or right-handed lock. It is very important to establish your orientation requirement, as this is needed to order your correct locks.
The picture above is a guide to four known orientations for doors.
Xeeder default product orientation is R(Rh) and L(Lh) which are right-hand push style and left-hand push style. In case your door is pull style please inform us on time of order because the reversed type requires a reversed latch.
(Q) What information do you require when placing an order for locks?
(A) We require the following information to supply you with the correct locks:
- Total number of locksets.
- Desired finish.
- Handle orientation (see How can I tell the difference between a left or right-handed lock).
- Door thickness.
- Door composition. (Wood or metal)
- Doorframe composition. (Wood or metal)
(Q) How long will the batteries last?
(A) The lock requires power to read the card and to unlock the door. There is also an indicator light in blue or red that will indicate the status of the lock.
In theory, a standard group of 4pcs X AA alkaline batteries should have a 25,000 unlock capability. However in the real working environment, this differs. The result is that it has a 12-month lifespan if used for a frequency of 20 openings per day.
(Q) What is the XEEDER Hotel Lock Systemâ„¢? Is it a PMS (Property Management System)?
(A) This is a general lock programming system that consists of 4 parts.
-Card holder- either hotel staff or guest.
-Xeeder hotel lock product- each Xeeder hotel lock has a real-time clock and room ID memory built-in.
-Card- the media that communicates with the doors (Xeeder hotel lock).
-Xeeder Hotel lock system software- this is card management software. Each card will be programmed and the information stored in the system. Reports of room access will also be stored in the system.
This system is Not a Property Management System. It has basic door and keycard management functions. However we can supply an interface to help you combine our system into your existing hotel PMS.
There are several world famous PMS such as Opera, Fidelio, Landmark.
(Q) Can we use our own encoder to program key cards?
(A) You can use your existing MIFARE (or IC) cards but you must use the Xeeder encoder. This is for security reasons as each Xeeder encoder is encrypted before it is shipped ensuring that only an encoder from your Hotel can program cards for your rooms.
(Q) How can we retrieve the lock events from the lock?
(A) Xeeder hotel locks allow you to retrieve lock events by a device called a LMA. Each hotel lock saves 800 lock events showing the Time Opened/Card type/Card No./Room No.
(Q) How can I use the common door function?
(A) Most hotels have public areas or valued added service areas like spa’s, swimming pools, VIP section, Sauna room etc. These places are open for VIP’s or selected guests only. We call locks we place in these areas ‘common door' locks.
In the past, access control to these areas caused administration problems, now Xeeder locks can filtrate guests by using our 'Common door' locks. Once a guest's card has been programmed for a certain common door, he will simply badge it to gain access to the specific area.
(Q) What is Xeeder Hotel Lock Systemâ„¢ networked?
(A) This version was especially designed for our networked hotel lock products, which is different to our ordinary hotel lock products. You can switch from the standard version of the software to the networked version.
With the Networked (Wired or Wireless) option you will have the following added powerful functions:
*Remote unlocking of a door.
*Deadlocking a door.
*No batteries required, the lock is powered by a 100~240V AC POE adapter. (Different for our Wireless option)
*Monitoring of doors in Real-time, audit trail always current.
*Remote cancelling of a Lost card.
*Remote cancelling of a Master card.
*Invalid card alarm.
(Q) Can we use your hotel lock in an office or school?
(A) Yes, you can. It can be used in any area requiring access control.
(Q) What brand of elevator will work with your Xeeder Elevator reader?
It is depends on if your elevator's controller can identify our data format sent by the reader.
The data is sent in wiegand-44. We can offer a datasheet to you. Please send us email to get it.
(Q) Can the keycard be punched?
(A) Yes it can be punched so that you can hang it around your neck.
For the MIFARE 1K card, you should be very careful not to in the middle of the card. Punch as indicated on the image below.
For IC card, you can punch anywhere as long as you do not damage the chip.
(Q) What are the minimum requirements for a Xeeder Lock System?
(A)1. Hotel lock, 1 lock per room.
2. Encoder. (One for spare)
3. Keycard, 1-3 cards per room.
The above mentioned is the basic kit.
For added functions you will require the following:
4. Wireless data receiver. This device is used to download lock events.
5. Energy saving switch.
6. Lock management assistant. This is an advanced device for lock updating and downloading.
(Q) What is MIFARE?
(A) MIFARE is a world leader in contactless smart card technology developed by NXP. It belongs to Philips Inc.
It has following features.
-ISO 14443 TYPE A international standard.
-13.56MHz frequency.
-3DES encryption.
-16 sectors for saving data.
-Contactless reading at a distance of 3-10cm

(Q) What's SLE4442 IC? Why is it not a Magstrip card?
(A) SLE4442 IC card is a classic IC card developed by SIEMENS Corp.
Actually the IC chip card and the Magstrip card is similar. Yes, the Magstrip card has been used in banking industry for a long but a Magstrip card damages easily and can be copied.
(Q) Can we have on-line guest booking function?
(A) XEEDER’s common product doesn’t provide this function, our products are mainly designed to manage the locks, card programming, guest check-in, guest check out, room status, etc. Therefore bookings should be done via a Hotel booking management system, we can provide an interface to fully integrate with any Hotel Booking Management system. We can also recommend Hotel Booking Management software, please contact us for more information.
(Q) About the Authorization Card: does each hotel system have its own authorization card? And what about the license code?
(A) Each hotel system has its own authorization card with a hotel code marked on it. The license code is permanently allocated to your hotel and is linked with your corresponding hotel code. No two hotels will have the same hotel code or license code.
(Q) Can we calculate the cost of using the phone from within the Xeeder Hotel Management Program?
(A) Our system doesn't have such a function.
(Q) Is it possible to take a picture of the hotel guest and add to the program?
(A) Yes, you are able to add a hotel guest photo to software. The photo should be taken manually (using Camera or CCTV) and saved in. Jpg format. We provide you with a function to import a photo into our software.
(Q) How to use LA139?
(A) The LA139 offers an easy and highly efficient way for the daily maintenance and housekeeping.
- Support quick initialization of locks (a capacity for 500 rooms) for all Xeeder Hotel Locks without the need for a Time card and setting card.
- Check and adjust lock’s clock.
- Modify a room’s number.
- Collect 10 rooms (1 floor) lock events at a time.
- Verify cards from the Xeeder Hotel Lock System including guest card, master card, floor card, building card, etc.
- Plug and Play, no driver needed for windows XP/Vista.
- Auto Switch OFF – after 5sec of inactivity the LCD switches off to save power. Any button will activate the LCD.
- Sound for each button pressed.
- Totally portable.
- Rubber buttons.
